Foodex, the UK's premier trade event for the food and drink processing, packaging and logistics industries, is capping off a record-breaking 2014 after achieving the highest visitor feedback scores since the show began measuring attendees’ reactions four years ago.

Research revealed that 82 per cent of exhibitors reported that Foodex was “important” to their business to exhibit at the show, the highest figure since the exhibition began tracking this figure. Likewise, 81 per cent of attendees reported that visiting Foodex was “important to their business” – a higher total than in 2012 and 2010.

Of the reasons to visit, the range of products and services on show continued to be the top motivator for visitors looking to attend, up by 8% on 2012. The show’s location at the NEC in Birmingham also proved popular while the overall reputation of the show was the third biggest reason for attending. Visitors came from all corners of the UK, along with 7% attending from overseas.

After the doors were closed on the 2014 event, three-quarters of exhibitors (75 per cent) and nearly nine-tenths of visitors (86 per cent) reported that the show met or exceeded their expectations. On average, exhibitors expect to generate of £142,000-worth of business while at the show.

Attendance at the next event is already looking healthy, with 86 per cent of exhibitors and 88 per cent of visitors reporting that they are likely to return.

Dan Dixon said: “The next show is already shaping up to be excellent – more than 100 exhibitors had rebooked for 2016 before the 2014 event was even over, and 60 per cent of the space has now been sold. We‘re looking forward to returning to the NEC in two years’ time.”
