Foodex, the UK’s leading event for the UK’s food and drink processing, packaging and logistics industries, reports a dramatic rise in early sales as it prepares for its next event in April 2016. Exhibitor sales are approximately 67% higher than at this time in 2013, during the build-up to the 2014 event.
With strong sales set to continue as Foodex 2016 approaches, the organisers have secured additional space at the NEC to accommodate unexpected demand.
“Held every two years, Foodex acts as a bell weather of confidence in the food manufacturing industry,” says Andrew Reed, Managing Director of Events and Exhibitions for Foodex’s organisers, William Reed Business Media. “This year it’s clear that confidence is high. Exhibitors will be coming to Foodex in buoyant mood, galvanised to sell to companies that are ready to invest in new solutions and technologies that will raise their game, boost productivity and fire innovation.”
UK manufacturing confidence has been boosted in recent months by lowering oil prices, rising exports and, in February this year, the announcement of a Government package to boost UK manufacturing performance. More recently, businesses have responded well to a General Election result that promises continuity and stability.
More than 50% of Foodex 2014 exhibitors have re-booked already, reflecting high levels of satisfaction with the 2014 show as well as optimism for 2016. 83% described it as ‘the best show in the UK food and drink market.' At the close of the show 86% reported that it had met or exceeded their expectations and that they expected to generate an average £142,000 as a result of their attendance.
Foodex exhibitor, Liesl Marchand, Marketing Manager of food technology business Bizerba UK, says: “If anyone thinks exhibitions belong to a bygone age, they clearly didn’t visit Foodex 2014. From the minute the doors opened we didn’t stop demonstrating equipment and generating leads. Sales continue to flow in. It was the best UK show we've exhibited at for some years and I can honestly say that I wouldn't, and in fact didn’t, hesitate in booking for Foodex 2016.”
