The National Federation of Meat & Food Traders is delighted to announce that they will be holding a one day National Meat Products Competition on Tuesday 17th April at Foodex 2018, taking place at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham.

The competition will include 22 categories ranging from standard favourites of sausages, bacon, burgers, ready meals and pies through to charcuterie and Kitchen Ready Products. Providing ample opportunity to win one or more of the 24 awards up for grabs, including Sausage and Supreme Champion Titles.

These competitions are open to all independent butchers, farm shops and food processors and have always proved to be very popular. Success in these competitions has provided entrants with great opportunities to showcase their products and reap the rewards of local publicity to stimulate sales from customers both old and new as no doubt the 2017 Supreme Champion Alison Maloney of Maloney’s Country Butchers & Bakers would agree.

The competition will consist of a range of meat and pastry products across 22 categories as follows:

Ready Meal

Meatballs & Faggots 

All categories will be judged live during the show in accordance with NASCO guidelines and trophies will be awarded on the day to all category winners.

Additionally, trophies will also be presented to the Supreme Sausage Champion and Supreme Product Champion.

Further awards of Gold, Silver and Bronze will also be awarded for those products meeting the required standard.

John Taylor, Federation Executive Councillor, will officiate as adjudicator ably assisted by a team of experienced judges.

Following the event there will also be the opportunity for entrants to speak with judges for evaluation feedback.
