Avery Berkel is a leading manufacturer of in-store weighing and pre-packing solutions for food retailers worldwide.

At Foodex, the company is launching XM, part of the Xtra range of weighing systems.

The XM is a new class of counter scale that is set to revolutionise in-store customer service and improve sales for retailers.

XM features eight patented technologies that redefine counter weighing; delivering the pc-scale functionality previously limited to high-end models in a standard system scale.

Among the many design innovations are two high definition touch screen displays that improve operator interface and interaction with the customer; an automatic level compensation device called ValuMax which will avoid undercharging; patented CodeChecker print head monitoring software and a full range of support and data integration packages.

The company is also launching a new Berkel meat slicer called Avantgarde.

The machine has been developed to address retailers’ key requirements for improved safety, hygiene and performance.

Built upon more than a century of Berkel slicing expertise, the Avantgarde gravity-feed manual slicer is ideal for high-volume preparation of a wide variety of meat products, from small salamis to whole cooked hams.

Berkel has also paid particular attention to the slicer’s styling, with a patented design that will complement store counters.

In addition, visitors can see the WA pre-pack system, IX and IM counter scales and demonstrations of new Eureka software.
